Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American performer and actor who made her name with smart raps that addressed gender and ethnic identities from a the most comical of perspectives. She then expanded into Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. She was born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants and Koreans. Later, she began hip-hop and classical training. Following a focus on education, she earned the degree of journalist in the college as well as a women's studies major. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included in her debut album Yellow Ranger. On the album, there were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$. This latter song was directly tied to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. After having a great career as a singer, she chose to assume the character of actress. In addition to early series like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a series of notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
